Lately I've seen comments on the movie - The Kings Speech. These commentators tend to point out that there are historical errors / omissions in the movie. Perhaps the biggest one being the political ploy played by Geoge VI to get the Munich agreement accepted and thus shutting down Churchill's critique.
Obviously there are other but then one has to realize that its not a documentary or historical research. When I watched it I felt it was about family, friendship, about humans facing situations beyond their command. When the prince has to give a speech he is stuck. If he s to be king then so be it. The only way out was scandal or death.
The amazing thing is that it is the movie that sways from the mainstream. Its a beautiful film on love and family, fears and a handicap that simply has to be fought. No way out...
According to the film Edward ran but George VI stuck it out. Its just one side of the story. But then they never said the other bits would be there!
