Icelandic public servants have for a long time been facing lower pay rates than the private sector. The logic has been that public servants have better job security and better pensions.
Now the minister of culture and education proposes that changes should be made in the laws that deal with rights and obligations of public servants. Her comments spurred by hgh fever blogging about a teacher who most certainly overstepped all kinds of limits on the blog-world.
So now the minister proposes that limitations should be made on the freedom of speech of public servants. Who‘s going to vote on that and where will lines be drawn?
