to be continued

Among my very favorite tacky, corny, weepy, romantic, comedies is a film called Return to me (Dean Martin song). Its got a string of stars, a very tacky plot and romance, foreseaability and you name it. BUT its got magic.
It is set around a couple - the wife dying in the early moments and her heart being donated to another woman, the grieving widower finding the heart, love and a new wife. Its no secret - you see it coming from the fifteenth minute.
So where is the magic?
For one thing you have O'Reilleys Italian Restaurant with its strange staff from many different walks of life but loving friends. When the old  buggers dance to Sinatra its geat. So mixing cultures is good.
Another is Bonnie Hunt and James Belushi who create a loving couple and a family. Third is David Duchovny who pulls off a character grieving and perhaps best shown by his interaction with their dog. Then there is Minnie Ryder and when she and David team up the magic is clear.
And even more is the general humour, friendship and love that the writers, actors and director create. You really get the feeling that these guys like working together. And with Carroll O´Connor and Robert Loggia leading debates about best singers, best baseball players and so on well how can you miss.
So its about love of friends, lovers, couples, animals, love indeed.
Its about friends that do not give a toss about culture or nationality. Just about the person, not the shade as it were.
I can go on but recently watching it one more wire connected. Its very much about reconciliation. The widower who has to put aside his grief to be able to carry on. The woman receiving a heart had to reconcile herself with her destiny. and so on.
Perhaps it hit me because I am in the middle of dealing with the same problem.
So perhaps I should follow the lead from this movie.
I love it!
