Birds - what a lovely creation

I sometimes wonder about the humour nature has - or is it God?
Here I am, the one of natures creations, having developed from a handful of people living in Tanzania some hundreds of thousands of years ago and sometimes I whish I could fly as a bird. be free to wander the earth by my wings! Well maybe not that strongly. Then you see something like this picture!
The other day, driving around the countryside, we saw something like this, hundreds, if not thousands of geese just arrived from Britain. And why? They flew all this way to make nests, lay and hatch eggs, bring up their young and go back to the UK.
So how free is a bird? More pictures here and here.
At this time of year 77 types of birds start nesting and so heavy snow, just as the geese arrived, is not what they need. These are Icelandic regulars. All in all the birdlist counts 373 types.
They have huge responsibilities and make an effort to survive.
I am also impressed by their obligation.
