Just wondering

The European debate in Iceland is quite strange. In fact the anti Europeans are so fearful that they are now approaching paranoia. On one side you have people presenting facts - simple facts - on the Icelandic economy. And every day there are more news about the ways collapsepreneurs litterally got politicians, regulation bodies, and anyone else dancing to their pipes, throwing ethics to the wind and so on. The latest being about how pension fund leaders lost almost as much money as the state needs to run its affairs for a year.
And listening to the news and interviews with those who reported on this the pension fund leaders, who were given millions per month for their very important tasks and responsibility, simply were deceived, unprofessional and not up to their task.
The biggest union has shown the cost of the Króna and IMF the nepotism of the system.
Where I drive to Reykjavik, from my home the Ays and the Nays fund the owner of a big advertisment stand by each having their posters running for months at a time. Apparantely both are funded from fraternal bodies abroad.
Listening to MP's the other day, where our foreign affairs minister pointed out (and it is true) that the EEA agreement took more of our indipendance away than a membership of the EU would it was amazing to realize that his opponents had hardly any real arguments. There were the constant threats. It is the same when one takes part in coffeetable discussions. If you are an EU joining Iceland supporter (or is it the other way around) or one of those who whish to debate this in a sensible manner, trying to go beyond reasonable doubt either way and find real and convincing arguments, one is said to be on the take, or someone who whishes to sell Iceland and its independance away.
Come on!
I do not like these politics. Please try to make sense! We are a democracy - aren't we?
