It has been quite intresting to watch how some old guys and gals have been ploving through old music material as of late.
I have not covered this fully but allow my self to point out that this is a very old tradition. I mean the Ratpack material is essentially of this kind.
To kick of one "old" guy is Robbie Williams who dished out Swing while you are winning with lovely songs like Something stupid, Mack the knife, Did you evah and more and more. Great collection, truly good athmosphere.
Another was Bryan Ferry who put out As time goes by with songs likek - as time goes by and the way you look tonight and more. Quite reasonable and romantic in its longful way. Classy.
Then Rod Stewart made several called from the great american songbook, actually five in all I think and mother in law loves them!
Another mention goes to Eric Clapton who issued a CD of covers in 2010 aptly named Clapton.
Some cool lovely covers, my favourite being Rocking Chair even if he appears a bit bored on this video.
Another favourite is Autumn leaves nicely done but I prefer something like this or this or even this.
We can cite many more, Bette Midler and so on and so forth.
Then comes good old McCartney, brings along the wife of an old friend (Diana Crall) but her hubby and old sir Paul did a few albums together donkeys years ago. Kisses on the bottom is a rather surprising name but the collection is surprising and the athmosphere cool, warm, romantic and really comfy. Krall and her band are obviously really good for this project. I´m going to sit right down and My very good friend the milkman sound as if they were done live and relaxed.
All the above are great but Krall and Paul.
One level above.
